We all have fond memories of family vacations growing up and we want our kids to be able to have the same great memories later in life. The one thing that we always need to consider is budget: how can we pack the most fun into the smallest expense?
There are many fun vacation ideas for families on a budget, especially those who enjoy the outdoors. Family camps are a good idea if you want to spend some time in nature without the expense of a rental. There are usually meals available and lots of activities for kids.
Working farms are another great option. Your little children will love learning how to milk cows and goats and how to collect fresh eggs. There are usually seasonal activities such as water-skiing or ice-skating, hay or sleigh rides and an indoor swimming pool.
Cruises are a good option when traveling with the extended family like grandparents, as they usually offer all-inclusive entertainment packages for all ages that will keep everyone busy from morning till evening. With so many cruise companies in competition with one another, you are sure to find a good deal on one of them.
Visiting some of the beautiful parks across the US is another budget-friendly option. Yosemite and the Grand Canyon allow camping within the parks and both have on-site cafes and stores so you can buy camping food and picnic supplies. Yosemite even has free bus service running through the Park.
Where ever your family decides to vacation, look out for accommodation deals where kids stay free. You should also ask whether the lodgings and nearby restaurants offer group or family discounts and instead of driving around everywhere, look out for cheaper transport options like trams, ferries, trains and coaches, which will allow you to take in all the wonderful scenery instead of concentrating on the road ahead.
