Midweek Confessions

Hey guys, happy mid-week.  We are home from the beach and back to reality - which, lucky for us, involved an ant infested kitchen and a sick dog all over the house, HOME SWEET HOME! ;)

Anyway, it's time for another healthy dose of confessions...

- I'm hosting Book Club at my house tonight (on the book 7 by Jen Hatmaker, more on that later) and, according to my Kindle, I'm only 68% finished with the book.  Since my house is also a mess and I haven't bought the first bit of wine or cheese, I'm wondering if there are Sparknotes for 7 yet.  #Englishteacherfail.

- Sam has taken to biting.  I mean, ya'll, it is BAD.  And, what's worse, I'm probably encouraging it because I just cannot help but laugh.  Seriously, if you saw this big bald head coming at you with an open mouth, tell me you'd be able to keep a straight face!!!  (Any tips for stopping this? Seriously.)

Caught red-handed with his buddy Kane
- On Sunday, I am leaving for a five day training for the AP course I'm teaching next year at the College of William and Mary. Although I am SO sad to leave Sam for that long, I'm also kind-of looking forward to it.  Four nights in hotel room with cable TV and all my meals paid for? Yes please! I haven't had time to myself like this in, um... forever.  (And, yes, I do feel a little like a horrible mom for being excited about this; but, I have a sneaking suspicion I'm not the only one out there who would give her right arm for a little alone time. I'll be better for it, right?)

- Ok, I'm also excited about getting to be a "student" for a week. I'm a super-nerd like that.  (And, you better believe I'll be rocking the fashion glasses!)

- I go back to work in two and a half weeks (note, that I will be gone for five of those days); and, so far, I have completed a whopping ONE of the 32 items on my "Summer To Do List."  (For the record, Sam's birthday party is probably going to be my only accomplishment of Summer 2012.)

- Speaking of which, there are still decorations from the party hanging in my sunroom, and I'm pretty certain that the chalk frame and welcome sign at my front door is going to be there until we move one day a long time.

Alright ladies, don't leave me hanging... Please 'fess up!!!

  5. You're going to be at William & Mary (or as we sometimes joke, "William and Larry") next week? You're less than an hour from me! If you have any free time we should meet up!

    1. OK, let's make this happen. I will be free Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday after 4:30. I also have an hour and half lunch break every day if that works better for you; but, I probably wouldn't have time to go very far.

  6. Yay W&M! Have a great time at the AP Institute. If it is in the new School of Ed building, you will be in heaven :) Actually, the whole campus is beautiful! Hit me up if you need any tips about fun things to do in Wmbg, where to eat, shop, etc.!

  7. The AP Institute is AWESOME. I attended the Language sessions last year. I absolutely loved the instructor. I walked out of there with a ton of resources and a great energy boost for teaching.

  8. E- You are going to the AP course at William and Mary. That is where I went last year. It is so much fun and the people you meet will help you through the year. I stayed at the Hospitality House and it was so convenient to the college. Let me know if you have any questions.. Hope to see you soon

  10. My baby bites and he's almost 10 months. It's bad. He also kisses with his mouth wide open, so you don't know if your going to get bit or not. If he bites me, I come back with a firm "no no". Sometimes he cries when I do this, but it's so embarrassing when he bites other people!

Also, I travel for work. There are some trips I dread but others I NEED. Don't be ashamed for being excited!

  12. When my brother and I started biting, my mom would hold onto our teeth just hard enough to get our attention and say "NO" firmly. She only had to do it once or twice and we stopped.

The little baby looks happy and healthy. That says it all. And guess what? It just keeps
getting better and better. Enjoy the moments. Thanks for sharing.

I've been having A LOT of trouble with spam comments recently, so I'm switching back to the annoying word verification thing for a little bit. I KNOW it is a pain, but please still leave your comment... I really look forward to reading them, and do my best to respond to every one!! You all are the best!!
